About HeidelbergCement Northern Europe

A leading producer of building materials

HeidelbergCement Northern Europe (HCNE) is a business area within the HeidelbergCement group, which is one of the leading producers of building materials in the world. The companies within HCNE develop, produce and market materials for the construction and civil engineering industries. These materials include aggregates, cement, ready-mixed concrete and prefabricated concrete products and elements.

Our main operations are based in Denmark, Estonia, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland and Sweden. Our industry has a long and proud tradition in the Nordic region where the availability of raw materials and access to waterways provide ideal conditions. The market for our cement and construction materials is mainly regional, but we also export cement, clinker and aggregates to areas outside of our region. In 2015 HCNE merged its activities in Abetong with Contiga to form the new Nordic Precast Group (NPG). HCNE has 60% ownership in NPG, which has concrete production in Denmark, Germany, Norway and Sweden.

Market outlook 2014-2015

In 2015, our total net sales reached 912.7 million euros and we employed approximately 4,200 people. We are the leading supplier of cement used in our region and also export to other areas. While we are the leading player locally, the trend is that we face increasing competition regionally as well as worldwide.
